If you are a new writer, I am so glad you found my site. Please visit often. I really enjoy helping new writers find their way in the writing world. I think the reason for that is that when I started writing a long time ago, how to get started in this business was a well-kept secret. I couldn’t find anyone who was willing to help me learn the secret and all the books in our public library were extremely outdated. So if there is any way I can help someone else along the way, it would be my joy. I am available as an editor or writing coach and can help you take your writing to the next level.

My first bit of advice if you want to be a writer is to be a good reader. Reading good writing helps you identify strong word pictures and good sentence structure. You may not know why you think it is good but you will know it is good. So grab a good book, pay attention to the parts you think are especially good, and start writing!

After retiring as a public school librarian, I heard of a group called Writing 4 Him. Being a fan of writers, I went to see whom I might meet. To my delight I met the leader, Linda Gilden, who encouraged me to write also.

During the past ten years, Linda has tirelessly mentored me by teaching tips and suggesting submissions. She has enlarged my horizons and sharpened my vision. She is a contemporary version of Proverbs 31:26, “She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” Her gracious and gentle encouragement has enabled me to become a published writer. Today I am not only a writer but also a better person because of Linda’s involvement in my life, and I am forever grateful.
